Actions and strategies supporting the health and strength of the TC community

To be the very best place for learning, research, scholarship and community, Teachers College must continue to foster an inclusive, welcoming and collegial community that supports the free expression of ideas, and remains unwavering in its commitment to learning and scholarship.

TC’s Advancing Community Together (ACT) is a new initiative designed to support the health and strength of the Teachers College community through a range of strategies and actions in two broad categories: community engagement and infrastructure. Throughout the year, this site will provide ACT information, and highlight opportunities and resources for TC students, faculty and staff members to join together in cultivating a healthy and vibrant community.

Antisemitism is a critical social justice issue, yet many are unclear on what the term means and are unfamiliar with its long history. All of this makes naming and addressing the issue complicated and necessary. Islamophobia is a persistent social justice issue based on misinformation that impacts the lives of Muslim people around the world. Moreover, many people do not fully understand what Islamophobia is and how it informs their thinking. Columbia University Life has compiled resources here to help people unpack what is meant by the term, and to address and combat the issue. Click here for Resources for Combating Islamophobia.

These resources were compiled in partnership with students, faculty and staff from across the University for you to use in your exploration of this critical issue and the development of skills to combat Antisemitism and Islamophobia. These are stressful and distressing times for many members of our community who are personally affected by the Israel-Hamas war and crisis in and around Gaza. Many continue to be affected by violent conflict and humanitarian crises in other parts of the globe. Our primary focus is to support our students, faculty, and staff during this period, and ensure that our campus remains safe, welcoming and inclusive for all of us. This page includes a list of campus resources which can be helpful in navigating these challenging times.

Doxing refers to the collection of a user’s private information across multiple platforms (including social media) by an unauthorized individual, who then publishes the information in an attempt to shame or embarrass the user. Doxing may be conducted by researching public databases, hacking, or through social engineering. The term "doxing" is derived from the phrase "dropping dox (documents)."  

Columbia University Life has compiled resources that can help you better understand what doxing is, the measures you can take to prevent it, as well as what to do if you've been the victim of doxing.

Accessibility First helps support the rollout of the new Digital Accessibility Policy, educates the community about digital accessibility and ensures access is considered from the beginning of all Teachers College (TC) related work, academics, activities and initiatives.
