Literacy Specialist

The Literacy Specialist program provides students with opportunities to assume leadership roles in literacy. Many of our graduates become teachers who develop best practice methods and illustrate what’s possible in the teaching of reading and writing. Other graduates become Directors of Language Arts, literacy coaches, school leaders, curriculum writers. All of our students join the faculty in a shared commitment to social justice. The program leads to an M.A. and, for students who wish to obtain this, New York State certification in Teaching Literacy.
