Amidst global uncertainty and loss, the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Chinese Center on Education on December 18th, 2020 provided a beacon of hope and successful intercultural dialogue for scholars interested in the continued collaboration between the United States and China. The Celebration marked not only the Center’s anniversary and its formulation by Professor Mun Tsang, but a reflection on the past 100 years of partnership between leading educational scholars in China and Teachers College, Columbia University. Born out of the ideas and works of illustrious educators like Kuo Ping-Wen, Tao Xingzhi, Paul Monroe, and John Dewey, the Center on Chinese Education (CoCE) is aimed at a better understanding of education in China through hosting scholars, researchers and policy makers, conducting research on a multitude of pressing and relevant issues, and providing educational access and opportunity through scholarships.
