May 2024 - The Office of Global Engagement brought together TC faculty and representatives from the European University for Well-Being to discuss upcoming funding opportunities, as well as exciting upcoming events—stay tuned for more information.

April 2024 - The Office of Global Engagement and the Office of the Vice President for Community & Diversity Affairs celebrated Arab Heritage Month at Teachers College by hosting an Arabic Calligraphy Workshop, which included a live Arab music performance and delicious Moroccan tea and cookies.

This hands-on workshop explored the beauty and spiritual significance of Arabic calligraphy, an art form that has been cherished across centuries in the Arab world.

April 2024 - The Office of Global Engagement (OGE) and the University for Peace (UPEACE) hosted the Global Peace & Education Symposium at Teachers College. The symposium brought together UPEACE faculty as well as TC faculty, students, and alumni to delve into two panels titled "Peace & Education: How are they intertwined? What is our Global Responsibility?" and "What is Peace Work, Anyway? Practitioner Perspectives".

These two panels aimed to explore the crucial role that peace building plays, particularly its intersection with international education, and discussed ways in which universities can support international human rights and peacebuilding both through research practices and working as practitioners.

March 2024 - The Office of Global Engagement led a delegation to Taiwan to learn more about the MOE's Bilingual 2030 policy and explore ways to contribute to it. The one-week visit was coordinated by Fulbright Taiwan (Foundation for Scholarly Exchange). During this week, the TC delegation visited a number of campuses that adopted EMI programs, the Ministry of Education, and Taipei's department of education. TC's delegation was composed of Amine Mechaal, Director of Global Engagement, Dr. Vivian Lindhardson, Director of TESOL & Applied Linguistics, and Dr. ZhaoHong Han, Director of the Center of International Foreign Language Teacher Education. On May 5, 2023, Teachers College signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Fulbright Taiwan (Foundation for Scholarly Exchange) to develop new programs that benefit students and teacher-trainees of both parties and promote cultural and social understanding. Thanks to this partnership, two TC students were granted fully-funded scholarships each semester (starting fall '23) to conduct their TESOL practica in Taiwan. TC also began sending graduates to Taiwan every year on an 11-month fully-funded teaching fellowship. The application process opened, and current students and alumni received more information about this opportunity in their emails.

November 2023 - Amine Mechaal, Director of Global Engagement (pictured front center), traveled to Murcia, Spain alongside Dr. Carol Hammer, Vice Dean for Research, and Katie Embree, VP for Planning & Strategy Chief of Staff, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between Teachers College and the European University for Well-Being (EUniWell).  Funded by the European Commission, EUniWell brings together 11 partner universities across Europe with the purpose of advancing research and collaboration related to 'wellness'—broadly defined.

November 2023 - Jazmin Guardado, International Projects and Partnerships Manager (pictured far right), participated in a week-long delegation visit to Taiwan hosted by Fulbright Taiwan, The Foundation for Scholarly Exchange. The visiting higher education consortium delegation, comprised of representatives from top U.S. universities, visited local public schools, prestigious universities in Taipei and Kaohsiung, and met with Taiwan's Ministry of Education.
