Program Faculty
Brian K Perkins, EdD is the Director of the Programs in Education Leadership at Teachers College Columbia University. His expertise lies in the area of Organization and Leadership where he specializes in Decision-Making and School Design. He was previously the director of the Urban Education Leadership Program at Teachers College and currently directs the Summer Principals Academy. He is the former Chair and Professor of Education Law and Policy at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut. He has served as a consultant to schools and districts throughout the U.S., Brazil, Israel, Indonesia, Thailand, the People’s Republic of China, India, Venezuela and the Republic of South Africa. Dr. Perkins has previously served as a visiting professor at the University of Pretoria in South Africa and currently is a visiting professor at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Perkins received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Grambling State University, a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the Yale University School of Medicine and his Doctor of Education Degree from Teachers College Columbia University.
Tameka Royal, MBA, MA, is the founder and CEO of AND Consultancy, an education leadership firm focused on empowering school and district leaders to drive transformational change. With nearly 15 years in public education, she has excelled in roles from teacher to superintendent, achieving record-breaking student proficiency gains and fostering exceptional school cultures in communities across Atlanta, Washington, DC, Harlem, and Newark. She is a facilitator with Deloitte’s Courageous Principals program, and a founding board member of Spiked Wellness Foundation. Tameka holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and an MBA from Cornell University, an Advanced Professional Certificate in Advanced Education Leadership from Harvard University, and a Master of Arts in Education Leadership from Relay Graduate School of Education.
Thien-Chan (TC) Vu is a seasoned educational leader with extensive expertise in school operations and administration. As Regional Superintendent of Operations for Uncommon High Schools in New Jersey, she oversees the development and performance of Directors of Operations across Camden and Newark. Previously, Thien-Chan served in various leadership roles at North Star Academy, including Senior Director of Operations, where she designed and implemented systems for a campus serving over 1,200 students. She also created evaluation rubrics for operational teams and contributed to key initiatives, including COVID-19 protocols and management systems through the Operational Systems Comeback Team and Effective Delegation working group. Thien-Chan holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Foreign Languages & Literature from the University of Delaware, graduating Cum Laude with Distinction.

- Strengthen leaders' ability to support and guide educators in implementing evidence-based instructional practices, using data to drive decision-making, and achieving measurable improvements in student outcomes.
- Cultivate the capacity of leaders to build resilient school systems by developing collaborative teams, leveraging community partnerships, and ensuring the sustainability of turnaround efforts through effective resource management.
