Art & Meditation

  • Organization: Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden
  • About: Tour the Chinese Scholar Garden, learn about ink wash painting, engage in meditative practice through the art of shui-mo hua and see the meditation’s role in Asian history.

Bike Education

  • Organization: Bike New York
  • About: Learn basic bike skills from beginner level to novice cycling

Campus Pantry

  • Organization: Food Bank for New York City
  • About: Access Food distribution program, which provides NYC K-12 schools and colleges with food, resources and personal hygiene products

Catch Kids Club (CKC)

  • About: Receive skills in nutrition education and physical activity program especially designed for elementary and middle school children after school and summer programs

Children’s Garden

  • Organization: Brooklyn Botanic Garden
  • About: The Children's Garden is where kids can learn to sow, tend and harvest herbs, flowers and vegetables. Become experts about plants and ecological relationships between living organisms in the garden and cultivation of edible plants

Children’s Gardening Program

Cooking Skills and World Cuisine

  • Organization: Common Threads
  • About: Learn to cook culturally diverse, affordable and healthy dinners. The menu includes cuisines from 10 different countries such as Mexico, Senegal, Turkey and more. It is a 2 hr class that can be held once a week in the school kitchen/cafeteria.

Cooking Classes

  • Organization: Sylvia Center
  • About:
    • Cooks for Health Family: provides culinary and nutrition education through cooking classes for parent/guardian and child(ren) of any age in their own kitchen to prepare nutrition-focused recipes. The recipe kits serve 4-6 and are provided for virtual class.
    • Cooks for Health Teen: provides culinary and nutrition education through cooking class for students aged 13-24. 
    • Cooks for Health Youth: provides culinary and nutrition education through cooking class for students ages 11-13.These classes focus on healthy plant based recipes and also teaches students about food science and food justice
